There are four sections of a musical theater production.
1. Actors and Actresses. They act and sing and run around naked backstage.
2. Pit Orchestra. They play music.
3. Techies. They play with mics and sounds and lights.
4. Set Design. They make stuff pretty/awesome.
Without the set design, you have a cruddy production that makes the drama program seem cheap and lazy.
Without the techies, you have horrible acoustics and lighting and the show falls apart.
Without the pit orchestra, the music doesn’t really exist. So it’s not really a “musical.” Unless you use a recording, which just makes everything fake.
Without the actors and actresses, you have a really awesome jam session without cockiness, arrogance, or pathetic competition.
Sooooo….. Who is the most important now, divas in the drama program? Yeahhhhh, not you, huh. Don’t piss off people who make your musical actually worth seeing.
